About Me
About me:
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and am a rabid Steelers fan! (Please keep other opinions to yourself.) I lived in Southeast Ohio from 1983-1998.  I moved to North Carolina in 1998 to work at KMS, where I have taught 6th grade Resource ELA and Resource Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies; 7th grade Resource Science, Resource Math and Resource ELA; and 8th grade Resource Math and Resource ELA.

Other jobs I have had include working at a convenience store, working as an on-air radio personality, delivering flowers (in costume sometimes), working as a University Supervisor for student teachers, and I was a church music director.

I enjoy reading, music, camping, cooking, puzzle books, board games, cross stitch and basic quilting. My favorite colors are blue and green.

College(s) Attended/Degrees Earned:
I earned a BSED in Elementary Education (1991), an MED in Learning Disabilities (1998), and an MED in Developmental Handicaps (1998) from Ohio University. (No, this is NOT the same as Ohio State. We are the Bobcats, not the Buckeyes!)

I earned my National Board Certification in Young Adolescent English Language Arts in 2002 and successfully renewed it in 2011.

Educational Philosophy/Vision:
I believe Character is essential for success. Courtesy, Honesty, Perseverance, Responsibility, and Respect for oneself and for others will make a lasting impact on the future.
