Welcome to My Health & PE Classroom
About Me: I am originally from West Branch, Iowa but have been in North Carolina for 12 years. My husband Sandy and I live in Huntersville. This is my 12th year with KCS, I spent 5 years teaching Health and Physical Education at A.L. Brown before coming to KMS in 2007. Although my primary role is teaching Health and Physical Education, I also serve as the Athletic Director, PTSO Teacher Representative and End of Year Celebration Coordinator for KMS.
College(s) Attended/Degrees Earned: University of Northern Iowa, B.A. in K-12 Physical Education and Health; 9-12 Social Studies Certification. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, M.A.T. in Education. Physical Education emphasis.
Educational Philosophy/Vision: Students' lives are a canvas, colored with life experiences. How can I help them make healthy choices when adding to their canvas?
Things parents/guardians can do to help: As your child's Health and P.E. Teacher, my responsibility is to teach them about their physical body; how to use it to stay physically active and how to keep it safe by identifying safe and risky behaviors.
If you have any questions about what I am teaching or how I approach the sensitive topics, please contact me and I will be happy to talk with you.
