My
name is Joey Chapman and this is my 10th year teaching math
KMS. I am also the head Women's Varsity Golf Coach at AL Brown High
School and the head 7th and 8th grade girls basketball coach at KMS, as
well as athletic first responder for the spring sports of volleyball,
baseball, soccer, and track & field.
Outside
of school I enjoy spending time and traveling with my wife, 7 year old son, and 1 year old daughter. I also enjoy playing and
watching sports.
The
following website is designed for two reasons, one is
for parents to keep up to date on their child's work during
the school year and the second is for students to keep up with
their school work and catch up on any missed work.

Educational Philosophy/Vision:
"The
mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The
superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires."
~William Arthur Ward
If
we as teachers can fit all of this: telling, explaining,
and demonstrating into each of our lessons - this will give
each of our students an unique opportunity to learn their own
way and thus, be inspired by what we are teaching.
In
order for learning to occur, classroom management and
expectations must be taught to and expected of the students throughout
the school year and not just be written down or read to them on the
first day of school. Relationships are one of the most crucial
pieces of the puzzle to having successful classroom management.
Collaboration
between staff members at a school enhances the material
being taught and delivery of the material. This gives
students a chance to be reached by multiple teachers at a
time.
