North Carolina’s school accountability program, the ABC’s of Public Education, provides important information about our schools, but these numbers only tell part of the story. Other indicators of school quality are important to parents and community members. This information is now in place on the North Carolina SchoolReport Card.
Governor Pat McCrory is committed to providing parents with more information about schools. He believes that well-informed parents will be empowered and more involved with their children’s learning and their schools.
This report card includes important information about school and student performance, class size, attendance, school safety, school facilities, instructional resources, and teacher quality. Report card data is available for our school, our school district, and for the state’s educational system as a whole.
We are proud of the special activities that are under way at KMS to make it the best middle school possible. We have student incentives being implemented covering academics, attendance, and character. In addition, we have ongoing professional improvement initiatives in the areas of reading, math, writing across the curriculum and Differentiated Instruction throughout the year. Additionally, KMS has implemented a unique schedule to meet the needs of the whole child as the National Middle School Concept suggests. KMS made high growth on the ABC’s growth model.
The report cards are available on the Report Card web site,www.ncreportcards.org. I invite you to look at our school’s full report card at this web site or to read the two-page summary enclosed. Our school district’s report card can be found on theReport Card web site as well. The information in our school report card is from the 2012-2013 school year.
At Kannapolis Middle School, we want parents to be more informed about our school’s progress and to be more involved in our school on a regular basis. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss this report card or any other interests you have in our school. Thank you for allowing Governor Purdue, the North Carolina Public Schools and KMS to share this report card with you.
Thank you for your continuing support of Kannapolis Middle School.
