I love mountain streams and waterfalls.  For me, they illustrate the beauty and wonder that only comes as we find our way through the obstacles in our lives.  Without the rocks, there would be no waterfall and no music, but as a stream finds it's way over the obstacles, a thing of beauty is created.

Welcome to My Classroom

About Me: Growing up, I loved reading and always enjoyed school.  I was blessed with parents who always encouraged me to succeed and many wonderful teachers who I encountered along the way!  After high school, I attended Wake Forest University where I completed the Pre-Med course of study and earned a BA degree with a major in Religion.  I decided not to pursue medical school and instead began working with children and youth in residential treatment programs.    It was here that I developed a passion for helping individuals to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.  After several years in this field, I chose to go back to school.  I attended UNCC and completed the Post Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure Program.  I have been teaching in Kannapolis since that time.  I strongly believe that all students have the ability to become adults who are responsible, independent, and successful in their chosen endeavors.  For me, teaching is all about casting a vision for students of what they can achieve, and then, helping them to reach their goals.

Things parents/guardians can do to help:

  • Limit time on the phone and internet.
  • Read with your child.
